Can you wear sterling silver in water?
There are different types of water, and you'll get different results. Different metals and of course gemstones all have their own rules, but for the sake of the question I'll stick with sterling silver only, with no gemstones, not rhodium plated.
Soap and water, washing hands/shower: This is fine! If there is any delicate detail, soap might build up in those areas.
Swimming Pool: Most pools are treated with chlorine, so your sterling is likely to darken, depending upon how strong the chlorine is and how long you stay in it. This is a superficial patina, if this happens, you can use a polishing cloth or cream to remove the darkening. Chlorine does degrade sterling over time, so my recommendation is simply not to wear it in the pool.
