Moissanite was originally born from a meteorite over 50,000 πριν. Σε 1893, Nobel Prize winning chemist Dr. Henri Moissan discovered tiny crystals of silicon carbide in an Arizona meteorite. He successfully identified these sparkling crystals as a new mineral, “silicon carbide” with the chemical composition SiC (diamonds are also made from carbon).
Ωστόσο, moissanite crystals are almost impossible to find in nature. Scientists worked for a century to find a way to recreate these extremely rare, brilliant silicon carbide crystals. Moissanite displays 10% more brilliance than diamonds and has nearly 2.4 times the “fire” (aka sparkle) as diamonds.
