Moissanite blev oprindeligt født fra en meteorit over 50,000 For mange år siden. I 1995, Charles & Colvard was founded to cut, polere, and bring to market the first and finest created moissanites.
Moissanite displays 10% more brilliance than diamonds and has nearly 2.4 times the “fire” (aka sparkle) as diamonds. Its hardness (resistance to scratching) and toughness (resistance to breaking) are exceptional. On the Mohs scale of hardness, moissanite is rated at 9.25, which means it is harder than all other gemstones, such as sapphire or ruby, except diamond (diamonds are the hardest known mineral, scoring a 10 on the scale).
All moissanites, have the same fire, glans, hardness and toughness. The main differences between the varieties will be the color and price.
