What you need to do is see a doctor to make sure it is an infection and not an allergic reaction to the metal. Those can be two different things. You may need a prescription medication to help clear up the issue, either way. Allergic reactions to the metal can look like or cause infections, but you need to see a doctor first to make sure you know what is going on.

If you are able to keep your piercings, you will need to do several things.

1. Make sure you are using the proper care with your piercings and earrings. I know theold schoolmethod was to clean with hydrogen peroxide, but that is actually incorrect information. If you read the peroxide bottle it says to not use on puncture wounds, which is what piercings are. Neosporin, polysporin, a prescription antibiotic ointment or even warm water with sea salt (non-iodine) usually are the best options for cleaning piercings.

2. Make sure your earrings are sterile surgical stainless steel. Not cheap stainless steel, but high grade. Another old pierced ear theory that was erroneous was that if you were allergic to most earrings to go with 24k gold. The problem with that is, some people are allergic to gold, no matter how pure (I am one of them). If need be seek out a reputable, clean body piercing shop. They will have an autoclave and good quality surgical steel. Đúng, it migh tbe more expensive but if you are dead set on having your ears pierced it is the BEST option.

3. Make sure your piercings are completely healed before changing your earring style. Many malls will tell people that they can change their earrings after 6 wks. Not everyone heals that fast, especially if they have had problems all along. For every week of infection, add 2 weeks healing time.

4. Do NOT get your ears pierced at some mall store that does them. Do NOT let some friend pierce you with either the “Súng” from a beauty supply or an ice cube and safety pin. NONE of those are as safe and sterile as you may hear. Granted the mallgunsare supposed to be wiped down with rubbing alcohol after every use, but also consider most of those people doing the piercings get a 10 minutelessonon how to pierce and are paid minimum wage. (I know, I used to pierce in a mall, 2 ears at once, old west style, complete with the twirl).

5. If you keep your piercings, and they heal, do NOT go with cheapie fashion earrings. Especially those made in foreign countries. Many of those will contain nickel, chỉ huy, or other mystery but bad for you metals.

Good luck, but go see a doctor ASAP.
