You might not like to hear this, but I would suggest that you do not skip to a size larger than 16 gauge when stretching from 20 ölçmek. The reason why is because of the change in circumference.

Think of your piercing’s fistula as a circle. When you stretch your piercing you’re basically enlarging the circle, which means you are enlarging the circumference of the circle. Therefore the difference in circumference between the two jewelry sizes is how much your fistula needs to stretch for the new jewelry to fit.

Here’s an example:
20 gauge jewelry has a diameter of .812 mm, which gives it a circumference of 2.55 mm. 18 gauge jewelry has a diameter of 1.024 mm, which gives it a circumference of 3.22 mm. So stretching from 20 gauge to 18 gauge means the skin around your fistula will need to stretch a distance of .67 mm, which isn’t too bad.
But if you stretched from 20 gauge to 14 ölçmek, which has a circumference of 5.11 mm, then your fistula would need to stretch by 2.54 mm… which isn’t too good.

The average maximum change in circumference that is comfortable for most people is around 1.5 mm. Anything more than that and it can stress out the fistula a bit too much, requiring longer healing times and in some extreme situations the fistula can end up with tiny scars which can cause stretching issues in the future.

Coincidentally, the difference in circumference between 16 gauge and 20 gauge is 1.5 mm. So if you would like to skip 18 gauge and stretch directly to 16 gauge from your 20 gauge piercings, you should be fine. But definitely do not try to skip past 16 gauge on this stretch and definitely don’t try to skip any steps in the future.

Don’t forget, a good stretch should not hurt.
