(1) Synthetic gems

A crystalline or amorphous body that is wholly or partly manufactured artificially and has a known counterpart in nature. Its physical properties, chemical composition and crystal structure are basically the same as the corresponding natural jewels.

Synthetic gemstones must be named with the word “synthetic” before the name of the corresponding natural jewellery jade, such as synthetic diamonds, synthetic rubies, synthetic crystals, synthetic opals, vesaire.
