i work for a company that sells a lot of silver wedding and engagement rings to young couples that prefer to buy a more affordable ring and we will usualy make them a bit sturdier than our gold rings

Here are some of the pro’s and cons :

As silver is soft ,it can bend easier and scratch easier and if you set stones in silver you should make sure the prongs are thick and strong or go for a bezel setting .

If you want to buy a delicate ring , i would definitely advise to buy it in gold as it will last longer

A lot of Men choose a silver ring as a wider and thicker band as the price difference with a gold ring that size is so large and i find the wear and tear can look quite beautiful on rings like that 🙂

most silver rings are rhodium plated (same as the white gold rings )so they look the same and after a year or two the rhodium will rub off and your silver ring can tarnish depending on your skin type and use .white gold above 14 carat doesnt tarnish but its slightly grey and you might want to re-plate the ring after a few years (this is very easy and cheap )

yellow gold will not change color but a silver ring that is gold plated will eventualy scratchespecialy at the bottom
