How can you tell if your sterling silver jewelry is real?

Stirling silver will normally have a hallmark which is sometimes very difficult to find. A jewellers eye loupe is sometimes required to find the hallmark especially on small jewellery pieces.
925 signifies stirling silver and is common on items such as rings etc.
You may find the words “stirling silver” instead of the number 925.
Some larger pieces of silverware may have hallmarks that look like small imprints resembling a box like indentation with the makers marks and dates and even where an item was made.
Hope this helps.
