The object of color grading is Cape series diamonds, which are graded from colorless to light yellow according to color density. Colorless to light yellow with continuous color changes are artificially defined as a series of boundaries. These boundaries are also color levels, which represent a certain color density range. The higher the color level, the lighter the yellow hue, and the smaller the corresponding color density interval; the lower the color level, the darker the yellow hue, and the larger the color density interval.

There are currently two methods for color grading: visual colorimetry and instrumental testing. The method of visually comparing the colorimetric stone with the diamond to be graded, and determining the color grade of the diamond according to a predetermined rule is visual colorimetry. The color grading of diamonds by colorimetry is always subjective factors that cannot be overcome by human beings. Сондықтан, people have been trying to find a more scientific and objective color grading method for a long time, and the instrumental test method has come out.

The purpose of using instruments to determine the color grade of diamonds is to eliminate some subjective factors that may exist in visual colorimetry and to make color grading more objectively. After decades of research, instrumental testing methods have also been greatly developed.

Diamond color classification rules:

(1) If the color saturation of the diamond to be graded is the same as that of a certain colorimetric stone, the color level of the colorimetric stone is the color level of the diamond to be graded.

(2) If the color saturation of the diamond to be graded is between two adjacent continuous colorimetric stones, the lower level of the diamond to be graded represents the color level of the diamond to be graded.

(3) The color saturation of the diamond to be graded is higher than the highest grade of the colorimetric stone, and the highest grade is still used to indicate the color grade of the diamond.

(4) If the color saturation of the diamond to be graded is lower than the “N” colorimetric stone, it is expressed as <N.

(5) For diamonds to be graded from gray to brown tones, their color saturation is compared with the colorimetric stones, and the grading is performed according to the 1 қарай 4 division rules.
