The new “Lantian Jade” ore body exists in Archean schist and gneiss, which appear as interlayers, with three layers. The jade is mainly yellow, beige and apple green serpentine marble. Its mineral composition is mainly calcite, followed by anti-serpentine, etc. Its texture is fine and clean, and its processing performance is good. Shaanxi arts and craftsmen use it to produce a large number of jade pillows, jade bracelets, fitness balls, tea sets, wine sets and other jewelry and handicrafts, which are sold well at home and abroad and have been well received.
Baiyun Jade, also known as “Baiyun Obo Jade”, is produced in the potassium-rich rock series at the top of the Baiyun Obo rare earth element deposit in Inner Mongolia. It is a potassium feldspar slate. In 1988, it was discovered by senior engineer Sun Weijun, Tianjin Institute of Geology, Ministry of Metallurgy.
Baiyun jade is mainly composed of potassium microplagioclase (80% to 90%), and contains a small amount of pyrite, sodium amphibole, etc. Its main constituent minerals are fine in particle size, tightly inlaid, high rock hardness (7.5-8), fine texture and good polishing performance. Some white cloud jade on the gray-green base, because of the embellishment of disseminated pyrite spots or fine veins, can have a brilliant “golden star” or “golden thread” effect.
Handicrafts such as inkstones, pen holders, birds and beasts carved from Baiyun jade have been favored by people at home and abroad.
