The northern market requires emerald to be strong in color, and the water head is not too particular; the southern market requires emerald to be fresh and tender, with a good water head, and the whole piece of jade looks bright and transparent.

Texture is another important indicator for evaluating the quality of jadeite. The so-called texture refers to the delicate structure of jadeite. Jadeite is a polycrystalline aggregate, which is composed of many small crystals crystallized together. The particle size of these small crystals is directly related to the texture of the jadeite. En général, we require that the texture of jadeite is as fine as possible. A jadeite with a very fine structure can almost reach cryptocrystalline quality, while a thick structure can be seen with the naked eye. En outre, the water head of fine jadeite must be good; on the contrary, the water head is poor. En général, the texture and water head are better in green and colorless, and the texture of yellow, red and purple jade is mostly coarse.
