Artificial gems include four categories: synthetic gems, artificial gems, combined gems and remanufactured gems.

(1) Synthetic gems

A crystalline or amorphous body that is wholly or partly manufactured artificially and has a known counterpart in nature. Its physical properties, chemical composition and crystal structure are basically the same as the corresponding natural jewels.
