Why do I find large hoop earrings really pretty?
They look gorgeous in that picture! I think the elegant updo makes the hoops look really classy.
When I was little and drew picture of fancy ladies all the time, I always put them in hoop earrings. I had some fascination with them, probably because I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was 13 and earrings were foreign to me. I think when they’re styled nicely like that, they’re the epitome of grace. They seem to accentuate a woman’s neck for some reason, and that’s also a classically feminine feature (back in the day, people loooooved ladies’ necks).
Hoops are tricky because they can be heavy, and they definitely are more susceptible to getting caught on things. I wore studs for years and years. I still default to studs; I rarely wear dangly earrings. You just kinda get used to the weight, but I’m always afraid of my holes stretching out which is why I stick with posts for everyday wear.
Word of warning: watch out for hugs while wearing earrings. I’ve had so many people go in for a hug and smush my earring in the process without even realizing it. This was incredibly painful for a while because my ears were highly sensitive for years after getting them pierced (my body still to this day tries to reject my earlobe piercings). Hoops are wayyy more likely to get tugged on in this case (because who knew that hugging hurts your earrings? I didn’t until I got my ears done). If you happen to know babies, they’ll also want to pull on your earrings when you hold them. If you don’t know any babies, worry not.
Také, take out your earrings for any kind of physical activity!! In high school gym class, a ball once went sailing across the entire room and nailed me right in the side of the face. My earring fell clean out and I panicked because I had never once put one in by myself. I had to figure it out in a mad dash in the locker room. If I’d had hoops and not studs on, I probably would’ve torn my piecing a little bit when I got hit.
