The Shah Diamond, according to Tawani’s record, was once hung in front of the peacock on the Peacock Throne of the Mughal Dynasty. The shape of the diamond is like a rod. The rough stone weighs 95 ct and is yellow in color. The current weight is 88.7 ct.
On the top of this diamond, there is an extremely exquisite inscription carved in Persian. The content of the inscription is as follows: “Bourhan Nizam Shah 1000 (Note: AD 1591);
The son of King Chahanjie-King Jahan 1 051 (Note: 1 641 AD);
Fat Ati Shah (Note: 1842 AD)”.
The first line of inscriptions engraved the name of the ruler of Achmednager province in India, and the last line engraved the name of the king of Persia. To be sure, this diamond was taken from the treasure house of the Mughal Dynasty. On the top of this diamond, there is a small ring-shaped groove, which is obviously to hold up the looped wire so that it can be hung on the peacock throne.
Shah diamonds have played a significant role in history, successfully preventing a war between Russia and Persia.
According to the Treaty of Turkmenistan in 1829, part of the wealthy land in northern Persia was ceded to Russia. Therefore, out of righteous indignation, a group of people destroyed the Russian embassy in Tehran and killed the ambassador Alexander Grybuyev. The Russian tsar threatened to retaliate by force. Therefore, the Persian government gave the Shah diamond as a gift to the Russian czar Nicholas I (Nichloas l) to quell the incident. The czar received the diamond and included it in the Russian royal jewelry.
In August 1914, for security reasons, the Shah diamond was sent from St. Petersburg to the Kremlin in Moscow! And keep it there. In 1971, the Soviet Union issued a special stamp with the Shah diamond as the background.
